Vulkan Group of Germany has signed an agreement to expand investment and production of high-elastic couplings at its Wuxi subsidiary, reinforcing the group's long-term commitment to the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District and its confidence in the region's role in the global intelligent computing supply chain.
The agreement was signed on Jan 21 during a visit by Sebastian Hackforth, shareholder and director of Vulkan Group. According to the plan, Vulkan Wuxi will launch the expansion project in the first half of 2026, with a total investment of around 300 million yuan ($43.19 million). When fully operational, the project is expected to double the company's revenue over the next five years.
Hackforth said that over the past 30 years, Vulkan Wuxi has grown steadily in scale and market share, becoming a key pillar of the group's global footprint. This success, he noted, is closely linked to WND's well-developed industrial supply chains and a strong, business-friendly environment.
With the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, the global construction of intelligent computing centers is entering a period of explosive growth. High-elastic couplings produced by Vulkan are core components of backup generator systems in data centers and have already been deployed in facilities operated by companies such as ByteDance and Alibaba, and have also been exported to North America and Southeast Asia.
Vulkan Wuxi will accelerate site selection and construction for the expansion project, further strengthen its R&D team, and introduce more core products and business lines from the group's headquarters to Wuxi, contributing more to the economic and industrial development of WND.
Founded in 1889, Vulkan Group operates six production bases and more than 50 sales companies across 18 locations worldwide, with around 1,400 employees. It is a recognized leader in marine, industrial and energy technologies, as well as refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
Established in 1996, Vulkan Wuxi is the group's only wholly owned subsidiary in China, specializing in couplings, vibration isolators, dampers, and locking rings.
